How to Move to NYC - A Getting Started Guide

When I made the (possibly irrational) decision to move to New York City, I had no idea what the hell I was doing.  I knew, though, that if I didn't do it quickly while I had the nerve, it would never actually happen.  Everyone thought I was crazy, and perhaps they still do; but there are many, many people, perhaps reading this right now, who know exactly what the magnetism of the Big City feels like.  There's a pull from a very young age, when you realize that everything around you just isn't enough.

And, of course, for everyone not from New York City, the first place we think of to make The Great Escape is New York City.

I remember Googling multiple times "how to move to NYC" and being thoroughly unimpressed with my search results.  Thus, after being hounded by readers and viewers and the like for a number of months, I've finally put together a little video to answer the basic questions.

I mention in the video that getting here is the easy part - and it really is.  Land here, find a place to sleep, and find a way to pay your bills.  Once that's over, you can learn to live here, and that's where the nervous breakdowns come into play.  But that's a whole other video.
